Dr. Gemma Craywinckel Martí has been appointed director of the Catalan Health Service (CatSalut). Dr. Craywinckel has spent much of her professional career as Director of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, right next to Barcelona Health Hub. She dedicated herself as an attending physician and later in different management positions until becoming managing director of the Hospital in 2019.
With a long career in the public sector, Craywinckel is tasked with addressing the most immediate challenges facing the healthcare system at a particularly sensitive time due to the effects arising from the management of the pandemic. Craywinckel will be the first woman to head the Catalan Health Service (CatSalut) in its 30 years of existence.
