Vertical Imaginae Solutions joins the NAIVE project as technology partner to advance AI-powered species identification
Vertical Imaginae Solutions will contribute to the development of the digital prototype of NAIVE, an ERC Proof of Concept project led by ICTA-UAB and scientifically directed by Dr. André Carlo Colonese, Director of Research at the Department of Prehistory and at ICTA-UAB.
NAIVE —Neotropical AI-assisted VErtebrate identification through ZooMS— aims to transform molecular species identification by combining ZooMS, artificial intelligence and digital technologies. The project focuses on supporting faster, more structured and scalable taxonomic identification from animal remains, including fragmented or degraded materials that are difficult to identify through traditional morphological methods.
The initiative has received an ERC Proof of Concept grant to advance the development and validation of this innovative approach, with potential applications in biodiversity conservation, archaeological research and the fight against illegal wildlife trafficking.
As technology partner, Vertical Imaginae Solutions will support the design and implementation of the project’s digital prototype. The platform will be conceived to assist the analytical workflow through data ingestion, machine learning-based classification support, confidence indicators, structured outputs and traceable data management.
Although NAIVE is not a clinical healthcare project, it is aligned with a One Health perspective, recognising the connection between human, animal and environmental health. By supporting biodiversity protection, molecular traceability and environmental intelligence, the project contributes to a broader vision of health innovation beyond the clinical setting.
Vertical Imaginae Solutions is proud to contribute its expertise in digital platforms, applied artificial intelligence and automation of complex data workflows to a project with strong scientific, environmental and societal impact.
