
The first BHHSummit gathers more than 450 attendees and more than 200 companies from worldwide
The annual conference, organized by the Barcelona Health Hub, has gathered experts of international prestige from the five continents
The first edition of the BHHSummit, organized by the Barcelona Health Hub (BHH), has been a great success thanks to the attendance of more than 450 attendees and experts in digital health; more than 45 speakers, 50 sponsors, almost 30 presentations and, last but not least, the presence of more than 20 exhibitors. The conference was celebrated in the Modernist Enclosure of Sant Pau, in Barcelona, where companies, startups, researchers, investors and care institutions from all over the world have been discussing the challenges that the health sector faces every day when putting the patient at the center of the health system.
The Summit has positioned Barcelona as the global leader and has turned it into the European capital of an emerging sector, the sector of the digital health, which introduces new technologies and pretends to attract innovation and talent. Artificial Intelligence, virtual reality, big data, telemedicine and virtual assistants have been some of the tools presented during this international event and which have contributed to the health digitalization. All this information can be translated into innovative solutions which contribute to the personalization and optimization of the resources but also makes it possible to measure the results and to put digital health at the people’s disposal.
The participants have attended a conference whose main objective has been to foster synergies and interactions between startups, corporations and investors within the digital health sector. For this purpose, the Summit has counted with prestigious speakers who have discussed the present and the future of the health sector. Niti Pall, Medical Director Global Healthcare practice & Head of Universal Healthcare en KPMG, Peter G. Schulam, Chief Innovation and Transformation Officer en Yale New Haven Health System, and Arnold DoRosario, Vice President/Chief Population Health Officer in Northeast Medical Group/Yale New Haven Health System have been some of the experts who have exposed and discussed the challenges of the field and their importance in the health sector development.
Besides, in the framework of this annual conference of the BHH, the BHHAwards, whose objective is to recognize members of the health sector who work very hard day-to-day in order to accelerate the implantation of the industry innovation, have been presented. The awards were divided into five categories and went to:

- Corporates: DKV Seguros
- Startup “Seed” (<1M Funding): Iomed
- Startup “Growth” (>1M Funding): Psious
This way, the BHH has been positioned as a referent association in the health sector that gathers more than 130 partners. A unique ecosystem with only one year of life and who is in constant growth and development.
About Barcelona Health Hub
BHH is a nonprofit entity which was set up in 2018 in order to create and generate innovation in the digital health field by promoting startups, health corporations and investors. The main objective of the organization is to become the international center of reference in digital medicine, attracting innovation and talent.
The entity is located in the impressive architectural complex designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, which was the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau for over a century. The entity takes up more than 2,000 m2 of the Sant Manuel Pavilion, which combines Art Nouveau with the latest technology in coworking and showroom spaces.
