AYO takes part in a dementia trial in Rubí

BHH member AYO, the innovation leader in personalized light therapy, participates in a dementia trial in Rubí. It is a research project organized by Fundación Estivill Sueño and Rubí Social Group. The focus of the research is on the effect of light on improving the circadian rhythms of the elderly with dementia in the El Cel de Rubí nursery home.

Confinement measures due to Covid-19 prevent the elderly from going outside on a regular basis, which substantially reduces their activity and exposure to natural light. This triggers a desynchronization of their circadian rhythms. When provided at the right time of the day-night cycle, light is the most important external signal that regulates the secretion of melatonin and optimizes the biological clock.

AYO develops breakthrough innovations utilizing superior light therapy to improve the health and wellbeing of millions of people worldwide. Therefore they are grateful for this opportunity to be of help and better understand the effect of light for improving sleep quality and overall wellbeing in different settings.
