Barcelona Health Hub wishes all members of the digital health ecosystem a merry Christmas and a very happy and extraordinary 2022!

For Barcelona Health Hub, the past year 2021 has been very successful. During the year, the BHH community has grown towards an impressive 300+ members, including start-ups, corporations, healthcare institutions, universities and investors. More information about the BHH members you can find here.

As always, BHH organized a lot of interesting events for the digital health community. For example, on April 15, the first edition of the #BHHSummit dedicated to the Spanish-speaking market was held: the #BHHSummit Iberoamérica. The event was focused on the Latin American market. A total of more than 30 countries connected, such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and many others, with an audience of more than 800 people. BHH also launched the Barcelona Health Hub 5G Design. It’s a 5G lab located in the BHH Headquarters, in collaboration with Mobile Word Capital, i2CAT and MASMOVIL Group. All BHH members are able to participate in different workshops as well as test and develop their most innovative solutions with 5G technology. In June BHH participated in a live event at 4YFN during the Mobile World Congress. More than 50 BHH member companies were present at the event. BHH conducted a series of panels with interesting topics such as investment, innovation at the hospital, telehealth and patient empowerment. In September BHH organized the second edition of the e-Health Investment Forum, together with Col·legi de Metges de Barcelona (CoMB), EsadeBan and Barcelona Activa. This unique space for investment in digital health was this year all about Artificial Intelligence. For more information you can have a look here. Just two weeks later it was time for TIRS, The Investment Readiness Series, organized together with Biocat in the Recinto Modernista de Sant Pau. This event brought together startups with venture capitals, corporates and business builders.

During the whole year BHH organized many #BHHSeries, monthly webinars about various topics regarding digital health. During the past 27 episodes of the #BHHSeries, many interesting topics such as Virtual Reality, DTx, or Technology Transfer in the Health sector were discussed. The third edition of the #BHHSummit, held on October 28th, has been a great success. This leading event in digital health had more than 1000 online participants from 50+ different countries. The event was live streamed directly from the headquarters of Barcelona Health Hub, located at the beautiful Recinto Modernista de Sant Pau. Although the access to the on-site event was limited due to the current regulations, the #BHHSummit was visited by more than 200 attendees, 22 exhibitors, and more than 30 speakers. BHH also started the Barcelona Health Hub Challenges of the Future project, which is aligned with the proposals of the European Next Generation funds. After three years in operation and with more than 300 members, Barcelona Health Hub aims to become a global benchmark as a Digital Health Hub. The strategy is based on four points:

• Create a Digital Unit to promote the clinical validation of digital solutions by connecting hospitals with the ecosystem.
• To become a benchmark centre for the generation, distribution and exchange of knowledge in digital technologies applied to healthcare.
• Create an Incubator to promote start-ups in the ecosystem, rehabilitating and expanding a unique space in the Recinte Sant Pau.
• Connect and expand the Hub’s international presence to other geographic areas to help expand the ecosystem.
