Elevator Pass: innovation in elevator interaction through NFC and QR technology – #BHHMembersInitiatives

Elevator Pass is an innovative mobile application that enables contactless interaction with elevators using NFC and QR technology. Developed by BHH member GooApps® for thyssenkrupp, this application transforms the way we interact with elevators, promoting hygiene and social distancing in the context of a pandemic.

NFC (Near Field Communication) and QR technology have become an essential tool in promoting hygiene and social distancing during the pandemic, especially in the healthcare sector. Elevator Pass, a mobile application developed by GooApps®, uses these technologies to make elevator interaction contactless.

In the context of the health crisis, the need to reduce the spread of the virus led to the innovation of Elevator Pass. This app eliminates the need to touch physical buttons in elevators, allowing users to call and interact with elevators using QR codes generated through NFC technology.

The process of using Elevator Pass is simple and efficient: the user selects the elevator, origin, and destination, and the app generates a QR code. Without touching any buttons, the elevator’s control system automatically recognizes the pickup and destination floors. These codes can be shared, printed, and saved in applications like Apple Wallet and Google Pay.

In addition to eliminating the need to use buttons, Elevator Pass facilitates social distancing by allowing the maximum capacity per journey to be limited. The QR codes generated are universal and can be used even by occasional visitors without the need for the app.

Through the success of Elevator Pass, it demonstrates how NFC and QR technologies are redefining interaction in public and private spaces, creating effective and safe solutions. GooApps® continues to explore and share more success stories of applications that are transforming the health sector, focusing on developments for and by people.
