Barça Innovation Hub joins Genomcore shareholders

BHH member Barça Innovation Hub (BIHUB) has become a shareholder in the Catalan startup and BHH member Genomcore, recognised as a leader in Spain in the management of biomedical data for personalised medicine, with a highly experienced team of healthcare professionals, biologists, and engineers.

Through this new project, BIHUB has acquired equity in the company alongside QVIDTVM, a firm focused on long-term investments in mission-driven innovative organizations across the United States and Europe, which led a €5 million funding round.

The investment will accelerate the development of Genomcore’s Biomedical Information Management System (BIMS), a groundbreaking platform designed to address one of healthcare’s most significant challenges: the seamless integration and secure, scalable management of diverse and proliferating health data modalities. As personalized medicine moves from promise to reality, BIMS empowers healthcare providers and organizations to deliver tailored treatments and real-time insights while meeting strict regulatory standards.

Genomcore is providing BIHUB and FC Barcelona with its biomedical data management platform, GENOMCORE BIMS, the only one on the market capable of integrating genomic, analytical, and medical imaging data, thus facilitating the collection and interpretation of data to enhance the personalisation of sports medicine. This will allow FC Barcelona to optimise the structuring and analysis of performance and injury prevention data, thereby consolidating its leadership in sports innovation.

Since February, BIHUB has also been a shareholder in Made of Genes, a spin-off of Genomcore that applies artificial intelligence techniques to integrate biological markers into personalised health solutions.

With this investment, Genomcore becomes the eighth start-up in BIHUB’s portfolio, following on from Visualfy, OLIVER, Onalabs, CeleBreak, Made of Genes, Fyxbody and Rimbarlat, further consolidating BIHUB’s role as a driver of innovation in the sports and technology sectors.

Joan Laporta, President of FC Barcelona, states: "Biomedical data is transforming the future of sports performance and health, and with Genomcore we will be pioneers in the implementation of this new paradigm. The Barça Innovation Hub, in collaboration with QVIDTVM, takes a strategic step to continue putting FC Barcelona at the forefront of sporting innovation."

According to Oscar Flores Guri, CEO of Genomcore, "the exponential growth of health data presents immense opportunities but also unparalleled complexity. With this funding, we are solving one of healthcare’s most urgent problems: integrating diverse data modalities securely, efficiently, and at scale. This investment is a critical step in our mission to democratize health data globally, making precision medicine accessible to all."
