Enhance your economic competitiveness and job opportunities with Barcelona Activa

JUNE 18, 2024 BHH Members Initiatives

BHH partner Barcelona Activa is Barcelona’s local economic development agency. Its mission is to enhance the quality of life for residents by promoting the city’s economic competitiveness and achieving territorial balance. This is achieved by fostering quality employment, encouraging entrepreneurship, and supporting a diverse and sustainable business ecosystem from economic, social, and environmental perspectives.

One of the key services offered by Barcelona Activa is the Business Support Office (BSE). The BSE serves as the primary contact point for companies and SMEs in Barcelona, providing information, advice, and support to help businesses grow and remain competitive. It functions as a one-stop shop for a wide range of value-added services, delivered by an expert team dedicated to meeting the needs of local organizations.

Barcelona Activa also promotes innovative support for selection and recruitment processes to enhance the local labor market. The Job Marketplace, offering recruitment and networking events at no cost to companies, serves as a vital platform for connecting employers with potential employees.

The Job Marketplace addresses the need for initial selection support, including job offer dissemination and recruitment. It creates physical meeting points where companies with job openings can directly engage with candidates through participative dynamics. Previous events have demonstrated that this direct contact significantly increases the likelihood of successful recruitment and employer interest in candidates.

For job seekers, the Job Marketplace provides a valuable opportunity to present themselves to multiple companies, thereby enhancing their job search efficiency. Participants also receive preparatory training in "Elevator Pitch" techniques, improving their employability.

An upcoming Talent Marketplace focused on the scientific field is being organized, and you are invited to participate. This third edition of the Talent Marketplace, organized in collaboration with the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) as part of its Career Week, will take place on July 12th at the Cibernàrium Auditorium, MediaTIC Building.

The BIST Career Week, held in collaboration with seven research centers (CRG, IBEC, ICFO, ICIQ, ICN2, IFAE, IRB Barcelona), provides the scientific community with insights into essential career skills and various professional sectors.

Following Career Week, the Talent Marketplace offers pre-selected professionals a face-to-face platform to present their candidacies to companies and organizations and to network. The event will commence with a Round Table discussion focusing on the importance and impact of innovation and research.

To manage the selection of profiles/offers, participants need to complete the demand link of the service, specifying "BIST-Agur" in the "Reason for demand" section. This can be complemented with the attached Job Description document. The required information should be submitted by June 21st.

For any questions or additional information, please contact Agurtzane Zallo

This opportunity aims to enhance the scientific job market in Barcelona and is open for participation.
