Siemens Healthineers and Barcelona Health Hub sign partnership to drive breakthrough innovations for equitable, quality healthcare
Siemens Healthineers, a leading international medical technology company, has signed a partnership with Barcelona Health Hub to open a new collaboration line, promote business and technological development in Spain and Southern Europe, accelerate the digital transformation of the healthcare industry, and foster equitable access to health.
To achieve this, some of the Senior Executives of the company will guide the Hub's member startups on how to integrate technological solutions into clinical decision-making, develop rapid diagnostics, and establish treatment pathways, providing a business perspective. The first mentor meeting will start in June, with multiple high-impact startups in the fields of neurology, oncology and cardiology: Time is Brain, Science4Tech and Idoven.
The three of them will be able to enhance their understanding of emerging healthcare trends thanks to the mentoring of the Executive Vice President and General Manager in Southern Europe at Siemens Healthineers, Sourabh Pagaria, and the Senior Vice President Global Innovation and Technology Management at Siemens Healthineers, Amira Romani, since both will be the first ones to lead this initiative.
Alongside this association, Siemens Healthineers will also coordinate media and social media interviews as part of the Health-equity Founders Initiative, which aims to enhance the reputation and positioning of startup founders, thereby consolidating their position at the forefront of technological innovation.
In the words of Pagaria, this partnership allows the company to integrate locally relevant healthcare solutions with its global MedTech offerings, ensuring that their technologies meet the specific needs of communities served by the Institution: “We are excited to partner with Barcelona Health Hub to blend our global innovation with local insights and needs, fostering a new era of healthcare solutions. This is also an opportunity for us to create mutual learning and collaboration platform for Siemens Healthineers, clinical professionals and startups at BHH to jointly solve the most pressing challenges in healthcare today”, has explained during the signing ceremony celebrated on Wednesday, 12th June.
By collaborating with the Barcelona Health Hub, Siemens Healthineers not only strengthens its presence in Spain, but also reinforces its global strategy to lead in healthcare innovation and expands its impact through strategic collaborations with local institutions. Furthermore, Romani has affirmed that this partnership strengthens the company's global position and raises Spain's profile on the European stage, improving relations with key international players and attracting talent: "To be a part of the Barcelona Health Hub Ecosystem, a leading health hub in Europe, promotes the growth of local entrepreneurship and partnerships to enable innovations for patients and healthcare professionals. Moreover, this collaboration represents a key element of our strategy to establish sustainable innovation in Spain and Southern Europe."
The act has also counted with the presence of the President of Barcelona Health Hub, Cristian Pascual, who has added: "Our collaboration with Siemens Healthineers marks a significant milestone for Barcelona Health Hub. Their commitment to driving technological advancements and equitable healthcare aligns perfectly with our mission. This collaboration will undoubtedly accelerate digital transformation and enhance the quality of care, benefiting both patients and healthcare professionals across Southern Europe."
As a result of this association, Siemens Healthineers aspires for Barcelona's innovative ecosystem to create better outcomes and experiences for patients, regardless of where they live or what they face, ensuring equity, and making innovation fully people-centered.
