4YFN - Interview with Cinfa

JANUARY 18, 2024 Events of the ecosystem

Barcelona Health Hub will shine again at 4YFN 2024, the startup business platform at the Mobile World Congress. The BHH Stand will take the center stage at the Digital Health Area, where you can connect with influential leaders, visionary investors, and the brightest minds in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

One of the companies you can meet at 4YFN is BHH member Cinfa, the leading laboratory in the Spanish pharmaceutical market. It has a team of 2,200 professionals committed to offering pharmaceutical solutions with the highest quality for the health and well-being of people.

Julio Sánchez Mariñas, Corporate Development & Innovation Director at Cinfa, is happy to share about their expectations for this next edition of 4YFN.

  • Julio, thank you for joining the BHH Stand at the upcoming edition of 4YFN. Can you please introduce yourself and tell us about Cinfa?

I am the Corporate Development & Innovation Director at Cinfa, the pharmaceutical laboratory with the greatest presence in Spanish households. I also manage the company's new open innovation platform, CinfaNext, which seeks to analyse and identify innovative projects to respond to the health needs of people today and in the future.

  • Can you elaborate about what’s new at Cinfa these days? / How does Cinfa define innovation?

Innovation has always been and will always be one of Cinfa's strategic priorities since it was founded in 1969. It’s commitment to incorporate new health solutions and services into its portfolio and to keep on improving people’s health, has position Cinfa as the laboratory with the greatest presence in Spanish households..

With the creation more than a year ago of our open innovation platform, CinfaNext, we have taken a further step to expand this innovation to other areas that respond to the future health needs of citizens. By collaborating and co-creating with other actors, we are able to draw on diverse viewpoints and expertise in other areas. This is the natural evolution of our philosophy of innovation that we have worked with for more than half a century, as well as our model of collaborative work with other centers and professionals from different areas of the company.

  • What are the areas of innovation that CinfaNext covers?

The aim of Cinfa's innovation platform is to identify new trends and disruptive projects to respond to people's health needs and facilitate the work of healthcare professionals.

That is why, we rely on new forms of collaboration and co-creation with the various players in the ecosystem to promote projects mainly oriented towards our six innovation focuses: longevity, chronicity, self-management of health, natural solutions with scientific evidence, personalisation of health and sustainability, the latter as a cross-cutting aspect in all our projects. These focuses correspond to the health trends that, in the future, we believe will determine people's wellbeing, and which, in turn, represent major challenges for the industry.

  • This is your first time at the BHH Stand in the Digital Health Area of 4YFN. Could you share why you decided to join Barcelona Health Hub this year?

We have decided to join forces with entities such as Barcelona Health Hub because we have great confidence in the value of collaborative work and we hope to benefit from the point of view and expertise of various startups with which to move forward on common projects. The challenges in responding to the health needs of patients and healthcare professionals are growing and, at Cinfa, we want to work together with the innovative ecosystem to promote new projects in this regard.

  • It’s still a few weeks away, but what are you excited about at the upcoming 4YFN conference? What can we expect from your stand?

4YFN is the perfect opportunity to discover new solutions, explore new collaborations and meet new players in the healthcare entrepreneurial ecosystem. This event is the perfect opportunity to broaden the healthcare horizon and continue with our commitment of collaboration and co-creation, and therefore, to create new synergies that will allow us to carry out disruptive projects that may improve people's health and their quality of life in the future.

If you’re interested in meeting Cinfa, don’t hesitate to visit the BHH Stand in Hall 8 on Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th of February. Mark your agenda for the upcoming edition of 4YFN and meet Cinfa. Barcelona Health Hub is already looking forward to meeting you!
