Clínicas Mi and HumanITcare offer the first 24h telemedicine service for cancer patients

BHH members Mi Clinics and HumanITcare have signed a collaboration agreement to accompany cancer patients throughout their treatment, from any location, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The tool allows personalised monitoring, using artificial intelligence, facilitating comprehensive support from the professional and improving the patient's quality of life. By monitoring a series of vital indicators, the doctor can thus anticipate the doubts, concerns and needs of such a delicate and uncertain patient as an oncologist. The professionals of UOMi Cancer Center, that have been working with the solution for a year and provide services at Mi Tres Torres clinic in Barcelona and Mi NovAliança clinic in Lleida, now have an intelligent system to support medical decision-making in the oncology speciality. Through this solution, the patient can share his or her condition at any time with the professional, and even better: the doctor can anticipate and act before doubts and unease arise in the patient. The agreement, with an initial duration of three years, includes an exclusivity clause in oncology in the Catalan territory, according to which only Mi Clinics centres will be able to offer this service for monitoring cancer patients. The service has been inaugurated in Mi Tres Torres clinic (Barcelona), but, after the positive results experienced in there, it is expected that the solution will begin to be implemented in Mi NovAliança (Lleida) during this quarter. Dr. Santiago Viteri, director of UOMi Cancer Center, assures that: "Doctors, in addition to accessing vital indicators with or without the patient's express request, we monitor the medication and the particular emotional state of each patient, which allows us, at any time, to make decisions relevant to the treatment, and much better contrasted than before. Also, when in doubt, patients can set up consultations via chat or video call. We have all the flanks covered to be, actually, always at the patient's side and anticipate their needs". Núria Pastor, CEO of HumanITcare, explains that: "We are very happy about this alliance with Mi Clinics, offering a more personalised healthcare to oncology patients in the Catalan territory and, together, we can bring care to patients' homes. Over the past year, patients, families, and doctors have successfully embraced the solution and now we only hope that we can continue to add value to medical care.
