Doctoralia publishes report on private healthcare: "Health Trends 2025"
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is beginning to play a transformative role in private healthcare. On average, about 20% of clinics and medical consultations currently use it, and 47% of these report significant benefits in administrative tasks, freeing up valuable time so physicians can focus more on direct patient care. Among those who do not yet use it, the main barrier to adoption is lack of training (43%). At a time when healthcare professionals' time is increasingly limited, AI represents an opportunity to optimize processes and improve the experience for both physicians and patients.
These are some of the conclusions from the first Doctoralia Health Trends report. To prepare this report, the Hub's member Doctoralia worked with its own data, and also conducted a study in collaboration with NielsenIQ. The report also analyzes the main strategic objectives of medical clinics and practices, which, in addition to digital transformation, include patient attraction and retention, and profitability and operational optimization.
In an environment of rapidly advancing digitalization, the private healthcare sector continues to face challenges in adopting new technologies: 84% of clinics have implemented digital systems, but in professional offices this figure drops to 63%. This shows that there is still a significant gap: Even among clinics and practices that offer online booking, 60% say that only 25% of patients use this channel to book appointments.
The adoption of tools such as telemedicine and digital marketing remains limited, despite their proven impact on efficiency and patient acquisition. While 75% of patients rely on online reviews to choose a specialist, highlighting the importance of online reputation, strengthening the online presence is a priority just for 30% of medical professionals and centers.
The challenge is not only technological, but also strategic. Barriers such as implementation costs and lack of time to adapt to new tools continue to hold many healthcare professionals back. However, those who have taken the step towards digitalization have managed to significantly reduce the administrative burden, especially thanks to time savings (70% of professionals and 66% of clinics) and greater efficiency in appointment management (65% of professionals and 68% of clinics).
"The private healthcare sector faces challenges and opportunities that require having strategies that are tailored to the needs of clinics and medical practices." says Carlos Villaverde, CEO of Doctoralia. "The growing demand for private insurance policies and the changes in medical coverage show how important it is that clinics and practices prepare for an increasingly demanding environment. In this report, we wanted to highlight how the adoption of digital tools and the use of efficient operational processes can mark a turning point on the path to success. At Doctoralia, we are committed to supporting healthcare professionals in this transformation, promoting projects that disseminate knowledge and foster innovation in healthcare management”.
