Break the Gap 2025: the meeting point between innovation, health, and sport

The Hub's member GooApps presents the second edition of its innovation event: Break the Gap: AI for Health & Sport Summit 2025, an evolution of the successful AI & mHealth Challenge. This year, the event takes things further by introducing two verticals: health and wellness (Break the Gap AI & mHealth Challenge) and sports (Break the Gap AI & SportTech Challenge), positioning itself as a benchmark for generating technological solutions with real impact in both sectors.

The event not only aims to foster innovation through technologies such as artificial intelligence, telemedicine, or mHealth, but also to promote female leadership in sectors where gender representation remains unequal. For this reason, all projects must be led by a woman, who will also serve as the team’s spokesperson throughout the entire process. This commitment to diversity is reinforced by a network of female mentors, speakers, and jury members.

Break the Gap 2025 is structured in several phases. The call for challenge submissions is open from April 28 to May 25, 2025, targeting healthcare and sports professionals who wish to propose real-world problems that can be solved through technology. On June 20, the eight finalist projects (four per vertical) will be announced and will go on to form multidisciplinary teams of tech experts, mentors, and sector professionals.

The online development and prototyping sessions will take place on July 3, 10, and 17, 2025, culminating in a final in-person event: the health vertical will be held on September 9 at the Barcelona Health Hub (Recinte Modernista Sant Pau), and the sports vertical on September 10 at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium.

The winning startups will receive €50,000 in equity investment from GooApps Ventures, along with visibility and access to a robust network of healthcare, sports, and technology collaborators. Break the Gap is a platform for transformation, collaboration, and social impact, designed to drive viable, scalable solutions that address the real needs of the health and sports sectors.
