Bringing laughter to Primary Care: A Project to alleviate invisible pain
At Pallapupas, there is a deep conviction that laughter is a powerful tool for transformation. This belief strengthens the launch of the Hub's member new initiative that expands their impact beyond hospitals and into the heart of public healthcare: primary care centres (CAPs).
Beginning this September, the pilot project will be implemented at CAPI Baix-a-Mar, targeting individuals who experience persistent symptoms without a clinical diagnosis. These are cases where pain exists without a medical explanation, where the body suffers but the test results remain inconclusive.
Imagine waking up each day in pain without knowing why. Feeling exhausted, broken inside, and yet receiving no diagnosis that validates or explains your experience. For many, this suffering is invisible and silent, leading to a profound sense of isolation.
This is precisely why Pallapupas has launched this pioneering project.
Because they believe that laughter, yes, laughter, can be a gateway to both psychological and physical well-being.
And they aim to prove this at the very core of public healthcare: in primary care.
The pilot project will include:
- Twelve sessions with Pallapupas, specifically designed for patients identified by the medical team.
- Training workshops for healthcare professionals, encouraging a more empathetic and emotionally attuned approach to patient care.
- A space for care, listening, and humour, showcasing the therapeutic value of laughter in the healing process.
People living with medically unexplained symptoms often feel misunderstood and alone. This project seeks to offer emotional support, bring visibility to their experiences, and promote well-being through humour and empathy.
But to make this project a reality, Pallapupas needs public support.
Be part of this change, as with collective effort, a more human, compassionate form of intervention we can take root within the public health system.
Every donation counts. Every gesture matters.
This project will begin in September, if together, we make it happen.
With your help, laughter can go even further.
