From Health Revolution Congress to real impact: GooApps develops a video game to support dialysis patients
The Consorci Sanitari Alt Penedès-Garraf (CSAPG) and GooApps have developed Onboarding Diàlisi, an interactive mobile game prototype created to support patients as they begin dialysis treatment. The solution aims to improve patients' experience, motivation, and emotional wellbeing while educating both patients and their families about healthy habits that encourage better treatment adherence.
The collaboration originated through the Open Innovation Challenge organized by ACCIÓ during Health Revolution Congress 2025, and was further supported by Serious Games Lab, a health-focused game incubator. Combining GooApps' technological expertise with CSAPG's clinical knowledge, the project demonstrates how open innovation can transform ideas into solutions with real clinical impact.
The prototype features a four-stage interactive journey that guides patients through the dialysis process using educational content, practical challenges, and opportunities to engage with healthcare professionals and fellow patients. Now that the prototype has been completed, both organizations are working on the final version of the application, with the ambition of scaling the solution across dialysis units throughout Spain and Europe.
