Health centre Centro Médico Alfaz is definitely betting more on online care within the clinic after a trial period. The healthcare organisation has indicated it wants to better facilitate patients in the coming years by expanding e-health.

For Dutch BHH member Webcamconsult, which has been operating internationally for some time, this healthcare party is the first cooperation in Spain.

Digital care implemented step by step

Dylan van Zomeren of Centro Médico Alfaz has been involved throughout the implementation process of the online care platform. "We have tried to implement digital care before, but it didn't take off then. This time, we applied more focus during the initial phase and transferred all the knowledge internally, and it's going fine. We are taking it step by step so that our staff and the caregivers can get used to it."

Proud of cooperation

Plastic surgeon Dr Karim Refaat says he is proud of the direction the healthcare organisation has taken with online care. Centro Médico Alfaz is the first healthcare organisation in Spain to cooperate with Webcamconsult. "Online consultations should become common within our clinic, that is our wish. All digital consultations via Webcamconsult went well," the plastic surgeon informs. For the care centre, the security of the platform is also important. "We deal with privacy-sensitive information, and at Webcamconsult this is well regulated, partly because they are NEN 7510 and ISO 27001 certified," says Dr Karim Refaat.

Employees had to cross threshold

The decision to switch to Webcamconsult's online healthcare platform was taken deliberately. Before the Alicante-based healthcare organisation made the decision, the threshold had to be removed. Doctor Karim Refaat: "Our employees who had to work with it were generally a bit older, and we noticed that there was a barrier for them. The same applied to me. But since I work both in the Netherlands and Spain, it was convenient to do the intake interviews online, for example. Dylan helped us with the first conversations with patients and how it works. Now we work with it fully and to our satisfaction. Needless to say, this is also a very nice solution for our patients."
