Wanted: startups with innovative solutions for long-term care

MARCH 4, 2024 BHH Members Initiatives

Pitch your idea and have a chance to win the DUTCH ActiZ-VGN-WDTM Innovation Prize!

ActiZ, VGN and WDTM want to stimulate startups that can accelerate healthcare innovation in long-term care. ActiZ is the Dutch branch association of providers of care and support for elderly people, people with a (chronical) illness. VGN is the Dutch branch association for disability care and WDTM is the Dutch association for care technology and care innovation.

That is why the parties are organizing a pitch competition for promising startups that develop innovative applications that support clients, healthcare workers and healthcare processes. The final will take place on Thursday, April 11. The winner receives the ActiZ-VGN-WDTM Innovation Prize and can make use of the experience and network of a professional guidance team for three months.

To be ready for the future, it is crucial that long-term care continues to innovate. That innovation is already taking place, but not at the speed and scale that is needed. That is why ActiZ, VGN and WDTM are calling on innovative startups to help accelerate healthcare innovation.

Do you have an innovative solution for the future of healthcare, a solution that is already used in elderly care and/or disability care and can be used for both target groups? Register your startup now for the pitch competition. Submit your pitch presentation, answer the questionnaire and have a chance to be invited to give your pitch live during the Healthcare & ICT Fair in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. An expert jury from healthcare management, the financial world and the business community assesses the pitches and announces the winning start-up.

When selecting and judging, particular attention is paid to the impact that the innovative solution has on the care process. This not only looks at saving time or costs, but also at elements such as improving the quality of care, easing the work of healthcare workers or increasing job satisfaction.

Can your startup participate? Participating startups must meet the following requirements:

  • You can participate in the competition with a promising startup that has a clear focus on long-term care.
  • The startup's innovation may not be older than four years (2020) and the startup must have at least two co-founders.
  • The turnover of the startup for the year 2023 may not exceed 250,000 euros (excluding VAT).

Interested to participate? Please, sign up before March 13th by contacting Tonko Wedda!
