4YFN - Interview with Asphalion

Barcelona Health Hub will shine again at 4YFN 2024, the startup business platform at the Mobile World Congress. One of the companies you can meet at 4YFN is BHH member Asphalion. They are an international Scientific, Safety and Regulatory Affairs consultancy company with Headquarters in Barcelona. They offer expert regulatory consulting, strategic advice, operational support and full outsourcing services from early development to commercialization and post-marketing for medical devices and medicinal products.

Oriol Penon, Business Strategy & Innovation Director of Asphalion, is happy to share about their expectations for this next edition of 4YFN.

• Oriol, thank you for joining the BHH Stand at the upcoming edition of 4YFN. Can you please introduce yourself and tell us about Asphalion?

Hi! Thank you very much for having me, it’s an honor. My name is Oriol and I’m the Business Strategy & Innovation Director at Asphalion an international Scientific, Safety and Regulatory Affairs consultancy company. Our team works closely with international competent regulatory authorities, notified bodies, scientific associations and key opinion leaders. Therefore, we have gained a wide experience in innovative areas such the digital health, personalized medicine and advanced innovative medicinal therapies, among others.

• Can you elaborate about what’s new at Asphalion these days?

At Asphalion, we are thrilled about our continuous growth, not only in terms of team expansion but also with the exciting projects we are currently undertaking. The company started in 2000 and we’ve been growing and after many years of continued organic growth, Asphalion has now grown into a leading consultancy with over 170 team members, a clientele of over 1,000 companies and a track record of over 5,000 projects.

In particular, in these days, Asphalion is strongly committed with digital transformation, which drives our team to provide expert support in development of digital solutions including, software tools, apps, IA and machine learning technologies for medical purposed based as medical devices products.

• This is your first time at the BHH Stand in the Digital Health Area of 4YFN. Could you share why you decided to join Barcelona Health Hub this year?

Correct! Last year we attended the event and were amazed by the interesting and exciting opportunities happening at 4YFN and we are thrilled to be able to showcase our company at the event this year at BHH’s booth in the Digital Area of 4YFN. The decision to attend reflects Asphalion’s deep commitment to staying at the forefront of innovation in healthcare. Even if the event is focused on the digital and we live in an online world, the congress offers the chance to create connections, share your expertise, learn and meet clients and peers who enrich you both as individual and as a company.

In essence, our decision to join Barcelona Health Hub at 4YFN this year is driven by the desire to be an active participant in the ongoing digital health revolution, to learn from the best in the field, and to leverage this invaluable experience to make a meaningful impact on the future of healthcare.

• It’s still a few weeks away, but what are you excited about at the upcoming 4YFN conference? What can we expect from your stand?

We are thrilled about the upcoming 4YFN conference, and there are several aspects that have us particularly excited. At our stand, attendees can come talk to us about their innovative MedTech projects and we are looking forward showcase our expertise in addressing the evolving challenges in healthcare.

Moreover, we're looking forward to fostering collaborations and partnerships. The 4YFN conference provides an ideal platform to connect with like-minded professionals, exchange ideas, and explore potential synergies that could drive mutual growth.
