Electronic devices have become an integral part of many people’s lives. In today's digital age, managing stress while working remotely has become crucial. Constantly staring at screens without proper well-being measures can be challenging for many. Although remote work has its merits, it's essential to address certain aspects for a healthier work-life balance, as BHH member Healthy Work states in this article.

  • Screen time impact on mental health

Research suggests a correlation between screen time and mental health. Spending prolonged hours in front of screens can lead to emotional and physical strain. It contributes to stress, anxiety, depression, reduced focus and attention span. It may also lead to sleep disturbances, social isolation, and decreased overall well-being. It's vital to recognize the relationship between excessive screen time and its effects on our health. This spreading phenomenon is also known as digital burnout.

  • Screen time breaks

Promoting responsible screen time is another significant aspect. Encouraging employees to take regular breaks, adopt proper posture, and invest in ergonomic equipment can enhance their emotional and physical health while working remotely.

  • Establishing frequent and healthy communication in your team

Communication is key to a successful remote work setup. Encouraging open, two-way conversations between employees and managers can foster a supportive environment. Be open to understand their needs while working remotely. While remote work offers various advantages, it's essential to be mindful of the challenges it brings. Practicing moderation and adopting healthy screen habits can help mitigate its negative effects. According to experts, adults are advised to restrict their non-work-related screen time to less than two hours per day. Any extra time usually spent on screens should be substituted with physical activities to maintain a healthy balance. Here two tips: UNPLUG IT After a day's work, embrace the moment of tranquillity by silencing your phone and heading outdoors. Take a refreshing walk in the park or along the beach, engage with others, and relish the beauty of your surroundings. It's an excellent way to unwind, recharge your mind and body. Just as we might do with TV, watch for eating while connected to screens. It is easy to have one or many snacks without being aware that we are eating and gain weight we do not want to gain.
