BHH member Doonamis are specialists in the development of quality Apps and Webs. One of their specialties is virtual reality.

In recent years, virtual reality technology has evolved rapidly and has been applied in a variety of industries. One area where VR is having a significant impact is healthcare, specifically in the area of rehabilitation.

The use of VR in rehabilitation has several advantages:

  • Increased participation.
  • Realistic simulations.
  • Data collection and monitoring.
  • Personalised rehabilitation.

Virtual reality comes to the aid of the bravest of the brave.

I Am Ready” represents a new collaborative initiative between BHH members Ricky Rubio Foundation and Nixi For Children. This initiative consists of providing support to children facing cancer treatment in various hospitals and currently offers experiences related to Radiotherapy and Proton Therapy.

The collaboration has focused on two main aspects. On the one hand, specific content related to cancer treatment has been developed for children. On the other hand, more than 1000 Nixikits have been distributed free of charge to more than 20 hospitals in Spain, Chile and the United States.

The purpose of this tool is to allow children to experience in an immersive way a visit to the treatment rooms before receiving the treatment itself, as a preparation for what they are about to face. It is not used as a distraction during treatment. This preparation helps children cope with treatment without the need for sedation, as it reduces the fear and anxiety that some of them experience.

The experiences developed for “I Am Ready” have been done in collaboration with patients, families, doctors, technicians, nurses, a Child Life Psychologist, the Vall d’Hebron Hospital, Cleveland Clinic and the University of Navarra Clinic; and have been sponsored by BHH members Roche and Fiatc Seguros.

The team of Doonamis designs mobile solutions that leverage virtual reality to generate substantial benefits. They have developed applications spanning various sectors, with a specific emphasis on education and health. Through the application of virtual reality, they achieve enhancements in comprehension, time optimization, promotion of lasting knowledge retention, and the capture of increased attention from patients and students, among other noteworthy advantages.
