Insurance agency DKV has invested 9.4 million euros in the last four years in developing its digital ecosystem. This activity is led from the Barcelona Health Hub Headquarters, where its innovation centre, the DKV Innolab for Digital Health, is located. From the Hub, DKV Innolab carries out digital R+D+i and captures innovative startup projects.
Josep Santacreu, CEO of DKV, stresses that the pandemic represented a paradigm shift for digitalisation. "Now the insurance business is no longer conceivable without offering services such as telemedicine or video consultations," he says. "Our telemedicine platform Quiero Cuidarme Más has approached half a million downloads and has carried out more than one million sessions since its creation."
Elena Torrente, Deputy Director of Digital Health at DKV and the head of the Innolab, points out that the company has 15 people focused on the digitisation of healthcare. Five of whom are located at the Innolab at the BHH Headquarters in Sant Pau. "We opened in 2020, with the aim of linking up with startups, either from there or from one of the innovation networks and associations we are in. The backbone of our health platform is designed in-house, with the support of external software developers, but we are looking for apps to monitor very prevalent ailments. We try to identify the best there is on the market and integrate it into our platform."
