MAY 22, 2024 BHH News

This is your chance to dive deep into the state of digital health in Catalonia. The report is elaborated by ACCIÓ, the Catalan Government’s agency for business competitiveness, in collaboration with Barcelona Health Hub. It was launched during the Health Revolution Congress on May 16th.

The report highlights that the global digital health market achieved a total value of USD 309.9 billion by 2023 and is expected to exceed USD 939,500 million by 2032, with a growth of 13.1% per year until 2032.

Between 2019 and 2023, $30.5 billion in venture capital was raised in digital health startups globally, more than doubling from the previous five-year period.

The study shows that Catalan companies dedicated to digital health have grown by 24% in the last year and now number 331. Together, they generate a turnover of 592.5 million euros (35% more than in 2022) and employ 4,810 people (56% more). This growth is a global trend, as the potential of digital health is worldwide. In 2023 it achieved a global value of 309.9 billion dollars with an annual growth forecast of 13% until 2032, where it is expected to accumulate a value of 939.5 billion dollars.

On the other hand, Catalonia has a series of features that make it an attractive location. It has therefore become the fifth region in the world that has attracted the most foreign technological investment projects linked to the health sector. In the last five years (2019-2023), it has received 18 projects worth 1,003 million euros that have generated 1,943 jobs.
