BHH Women’s Week - BHH celebrates the International Women’s Day
Barcelona Health Hub once again joins the movement to celebrate the International Women’s Day, together with many of its BHH residents at the BHH Headquarters.
International Women’s Day is here to mark a call to action for accelerating gender parity. In the field of digital health, this day holds significant relevance as it highlights the need for women's participation in the development and implementation of digital health solutions. Women have been underrepresented in the field of digital health, particularly in leadership positions.
However, they make up the majority of the healthcare workforce and are significant consumers of healthcare. Therefore, it is essential to involve women in decision-making processes when developing digital health solutions that affect them. Women bring unique perspectives and experiences to the table that can help shape more inclusive and effective digital health interventions.
Furthermore, digital health has the potential to address many of the healthcare challenges that disproportionately affect women. For instance, maternal and reproductive health, mental health, and chronic disease management are all areas where digital health solutions can improve access and outcomes for women. Therefore, ensuring that women have equal access to digital health solutions and are involved in their design and implementation is crucial.
International Women’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women and to reflect on the work that still needs to be done. By recognizing the importance of women's participation in this sector, we can ensure that digital health solutions are more effective, equitable, and inclusive.
