Neck Pain Accounts for Nearly Half of Home Physiotherapy Treatments in Spain
January 12, 2026 – FisioReact, a company specialized in at-home healthcare services, has released the results of the Fisiometro 2025, the first annual report analyzing the state of home physiotherapy in Spain based on real activity data. The study is based on the analysis of more than 82,000 home physiotherapy sessions carried out throughout 2025, corresponding to over 17,000 users, with presence in nearly 300 cities nationwide and collaboration with more than 250 companies and organizations in the field of corporate wellbeing.
To put the sector’s evolution into context, in 2020 FisioReact carried out around 1,400 physiotherapy sessions for 174 people. Five years later, the service has multiplied the number of sessions by more than 50 and the number of users by nearly 100, reflecting sustained growth and the consolidation of home physiotherapy as an increasingly integrated alternative within health and self-care habits in Spain.
The Most Common Treatments and Conditions
According to the Fisiometro 2025, more than 77% of home treatments are related to muscular conditions, far ahead of other types of ailments. Regarding the most affected areas of the body, neck pain ranks as the main reason for consultation (42.2%), followed by the lower back (15.4%) and the dorsal area (11.9%). Overall, neck and back issues account for more than half of all home treatments.
The ranking is completed by shoulder (7%), hip (5.2%), and other areas such as knee, arms, or thighs. According to the report, this pattern does not reflect a higher incidence of traumatic injuries, but rather an accumulation of discomfort derived from poor posture, sedentary lifestyles, and prolonged screen-based work habits.
“The data show that we are not facing an epidemic of injuries, but of poor posture. Lack of movement, remote work, and long hours sitting have a direct impact on the cervical, back, and lumbar areas. Home physiotherapy allows this issue to be addressed in a more accessible and continuous way,” says Albert Valls, CEO of FisioReact.
Physiotherapy Gains Ground in the Corporate Environment
The Fisiometro 2025 also highlights the growing role of physiotherapy within the corporate environment. Currently, more than 250 companies across different sectors have incorporated physiotherapy programs into their employee wellbeing policies.
The data show that over 50% of organizations reach an adoption rate close to 30% of their workforce, and 60% report clear or partial improvements in indicators such as absenteeism. Additionally, 70% of companies integrate physiotherapy within a broader wellbeing ecosystem that includes measures such as flexibility, remote work, or training.
“Physiotherapy has moved from being a one-off benefit to becoming a structural tool within wellbeing policies. It provides prevention, improves physical and emotional wellbeing, and helps create healthier work environments,” explains Cristina Berlanga, Medical Director at FisioReact.
User Profile
Far from being exclusively associated with older adults, home physiotherapy shows a user profile clearly linked to working age. According to the report, 6 out of 10 users are between 30 and 50 years old, while those over 60 represent only 4.5% of the total.
In terms of gender, service usage is almost evenly distributed, with 53% men and 47% women, confirming that it is a transversal need, more closely related to lifestyle and work context than to specific demographic factors.
The Future of the Sector
Looking ahead, the Fisiometro points to gradual territorial expansion, greater maturity of the corporate channel, and an evolution of the model toward prevention and continuous health management. The report concludes that home physiotherapy is still in a phase of structural growth and that its greatest potential lies in its ability to adapt to the time and mobility constraints of today’s population.
