Skinive expands AI-powered skin analysis platform with new UV Protection & Monitoring features
Barcelona, Spain
Skinive, a member of Barcelona Health Hub, has announced a major update to its AI-powered skin health platform with the launch of new UV Protection & Monitoring features for iOS and Android. The latest release helps people better understand daily ultraviolet (UV) exposure and make more informed decisions about sun protection during periods of high UV radiation and extreme summer temperatures.
The new update introduces several features designed to help users manage sun exposure more effectively:
- Real-time UV Index monitoring
- Daily UV forecast
- Personalized Safe Sun Exposure Timer based on individual skin phototype and SPF protection
- Vitamin D estimation
- Support for multiple locations
- Personalized UV protection recommendations
Unlike traditional weather applications that display only general UV information, Skinive combines environmental conditions with personal skin characteristics to provide individualized recommendations that help users better understand and manage their sun exposure.
The new UV Protection module complements Skinive’s existing AI skin scanner app and mole checker technology, creating a more comprehensive digital platform for skin self-monitoring and preventive skin health. The application encourages users to monitor skin changes over time and seek professional medical advice whenever suspicious skin changes are observed.
The launch comes as many European countries are experiencing prolonged heatwaves and elevated UV levels, highlighting the growing importance of digital health technologies that support skin cancer prevention, healthy sun habits and preventive healthcare.
Today, the Skinive platform has been used by more than one million users worldwide, while its artificial intelligence models have been developed using a proprietary dataset of over six million smartphone skin images collected over several years. Beyond its consumer applications, Skinive also offers its Skin Analysis API, enabling insurers, telemedicine providers, healthcare organizations and digital health companies to integrate AI-powered skin analysis into their own products and services.
As a member of Barcelona Health Hub, Skinive continues to contribute to Europe’s growing digital health ecosystem by developing responsible AI technologies that improve access to preventive skin health, skin self-monitoring and personalized UV protection.
